I hope everyone finds themselves in a good place today.

Many people in our day and age try to approach the issues of life with their own wisdom—with what they feel is right in their own minds and with what they can see with their own eyes.

This past October I was in Los Angeles getting in some vacation time and I visited The RMS Queen Mary, an ocean-liner which is docked along Long Beach, CA. I had decided to visit the ship based on the recommendation of a friend from work, and I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew it was a historic cruise-liner, but I really didn’t know much beyond that.

Today I want us to consider the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and we are going to look at Mark’s account of it. Indeed, all four Gospel writers give us an account, and Mark’s, like Matthew’s, is shorter. Both Luke and John gave us more lengthy accounts, and it would take weeks to go though them. But today, I want us to consider Mark’s account.

Today we are finishing up our study on the Fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5. I think the last weeks have been pretty interesting as we have considered love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and goodness. These are attitudes that God wants us to have, as Christians, in our thoughts, our words, and our actions. If we work these things into our overall character, we cannot lose in life.

I am continuing our discussion on the Fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5. Last week we considered the first three fruits in that passage, which are love, joy, and peace. Today, we will consider the next three, which are patience, kindness, and goodness. Just as last week’s fruits I think were pretty interesting and insightful, today’s fruits are just as interesting.

Today I am beginning a new series on the Fruit of the Spirit, and we are going to be consider each fruit individually over the next three weeks. Since there are nine fruits, we will consider three fruits in each message. I believe it is really important to understand each of these characteristics that God wants us to be displaying in our lives. Today I want to talk about some common problems that occur in people’s marriages, and how to deal with these problems. Now, what I am going to discuss is basic, yet, I feel that these issues are common within marriages, and therefore, we should consider them. I believe every Christian couple wants to improve their marriage—for everyone should believe that there is room for improvement—and I think CONTINUE READING SERMON...

Over the last couple of weeks we’ve been looking at how the Holy Spirit works in our lives as Christians. I think we’ve learned, or been reminded of quite a few important things in this study. The first week we discussed how the Holy Spirit teaches us, both using God’s Word and sometimes things we see around us.        When a lot of people attack Christianity, one of the first things they focus on is the church—or the condition of the church. Opponents believe that if they can show the people who follow Christian principles to be no different than anyone else, to be hypocrites, then they can undermine the church. And it is true that when Christians don’t live up to becoming more like Jesus that it can and does from CONTINUE READING SERMON...

In our world today, there are many skeptics—people who just have trouble believing in anything outside of what they can see with their own eyes.        If we are going to follow God correctly in our lives, as Christians, then repentance from sin is going to be a big part of our lives. As we grow into becoming more and more like Christ, we are going to find new areas where sin is identified in our lives. At that point, we need to turn from it and go from there in living life without practicing that sin any longer. And then, of course, there are the daily struggles

We are now in our third week of our study on peace. Last week I discussed seven things that can take away our peace, and I will be continuing this discussion today. As we live each day of our lives, there are so many things that can work against us in order to try and take our peace. Having peace of mind is probably the most important thing we can have, as Christians. Peace of mind allows us to live our lives to the fullest extent, and not be hindered by the shaky circumstances of life.        Of all the things we have in this world, one of the most important is the peace we have in our minds. We often use the phrase “peace of mind,” and it is true that having peace of mind makes life the best it can be. If we are living in bad mental states all the time—states of fear, anxiety, chaos, depression—whatever it be—we won’t enjoy life as much as we could, and for some, they won’t enjoy
