       This is what the Apostle Paul instructed the Colossians to do. He said, “[S]eek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” (1b-2, ESV). When we really stop and think about these things, we are keeping this instruction from Paul. These are great things. They can encourage us even when things aren’t going so well in our lives. We can think about these things, and thus lift ourselves out of any depressing thoughts by realizing what is really important. James gives us the example of the farmer. Let’s read it again, “See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.“ I think it’s safe to say that the earth is currently experiencing “the late rains.” I mean, after all, we are closer to Jesus’ return then we have ever been, right? That’s just the truth of the matter.
