“Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men” (Romans 5:18, ESV. This, again, is not saying that all people will be saved. Many other places in the Bible tell us that won’t be the case. Jesus told us that on multiple occasions, and the Book of Revelation clearly states that. We know that Paul was a Jewish man, and in the Jewish language, this comparison in the sentence by Paul is called a parallelism. This was common in Hebrew writings. The one act of righteousness, by Jesus, leads to the possibility of all being saved. “For God so loved the world,” John states, “that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16, KJV). As John recorded, “whosoever” includes anybody and everybody. The requirement is “whosoever” believes; that’s all there is to it. But one has to believe. It’s not a default setting, but you have to make it your default setting.
