       Paul moves here to discussing how he still struggles with sin within his flesh, how he still has to deal with the sin-nature inside of him, which is the same struggle that all of us, as born again believers, face in our lives. It is the experience of everyone of us. It is good for us to remind ourselves of what we went over two weeks ago, in Romans chapter 6, when Paul said, “Let not sin… reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions” (Romans 6:12, ESV). See, back there Paul told us that we still can develop “passions” within our flesh that are sinful. Remember? We either have the choice to follow that sin, to follow sinful desires, or we have the choice to “Let not.” We have the choice to “Let not sin… reign in [our] mortal bod[ies].” At the core of what Paul is stating here I believe is the fact that we cannot be perfect, no matter how hard we try.
